Association Activities Committee Meeting

Tuesday, September 17th, 2007

10:00 am at the Best Western Ramkota Inn

Aberdeen, SD

 

  1. Call to order – Members present: Jeff Richardt, Erin Goeden, Doug Lowe, Billy Kelly, Kevin Devries, These Langbehn, Andy Lueth, Alecia Hoffman, Terry Kelly, Kristy Lintz, Nancy Teachout, JD O’Grady, Todd Larsen, Paul Fokken + 2 students, and Sandy Melstad.

 

  1. Items to Discuss:

1)      Hershey Recap – Terry informed the group that the date set for the next State Meet is June 28th. There was lots of positive feedback on a great job that Watertown did and that each event has kinks to work out. There was a recap of the National Finalist Results.

2)      Aquatics – Travis was not available to report, but their was discussion that communities would like to have another Lifeguard games. Yankton volunteered to be the host for 2008.

3)      Healthy SD – Members designated future SD Great Day of Play’s to occur on the last Wednesday of July and the Saturday following the city municipal SD Great Day of Play will be the SD   Great Day of Play for state parks…yet to be finalized

                  Promotional Materials

                                                              i.      Incentives - Members indicated their interest in having future incentives to include the SDPRA logo, Healthy SD and Great Day of Play logos where possible.

                                                            ii.      PSA – reproduce without the date included on it.

                                                          iii.      Fliers – create a template for the participating sites to work from, if desire to adapt one to their site.  Include space for sites to write on their event information.

                                                          iv.      Press Release – create one that can be individualized to each participating site

                                                            v.      Reward or incentive for persons who volunteer to help with events…I.e Healthy SD pin.

Include Seniors and Senior Centers on future SD Great Day of Play’s.  Develop a press release to follow-up and reinforce the activities, so do not have similar activities.  Healthy SD can work through DSS, Aging to collaborate. Cooperative Extension activities can be reinforced with a press release from Healthy SD

4)   Ice Programming – Doug was not available. Postponed to Nov.
